Electric Moons Bordeaux

It all began with a book and a meeting with India Mandelkern. Her book, Electric Moons, made me look at the street lamps of Los Angeles in a different way. I wanted to paint them, to give them the space they deserved, as if they were characters in their own right. Freed from their surroundings, their silhouettes revealed their strength and personality.

Then I began to see Bordeaux differently. The street lamps I used to pass without noticing became my subjects. Their lines, their elegance, their light were there, right before my eyes.

From the Place de la Bourse to the Quinconces, from the Pont de Pierre to the Grand Théâtre, Bordeaux became a gallery of portraits.
Point by point, I bring them to life on the canvas. From a distance, their silhouettes emerge. Up close, colours meet, and the paint begins to vibrate.
